Guest Post By Indu- Indgal Loves Shopping

Lets me take the pleasure of introducing the lovely author
Indu is the lovely Bloggerita behind Indgal Loves Shopping...I guess most of you know her and  her love for Handicrafts ;)...Also she  is one skincare freak (Addict:D) ..

Enjoy reading :)
One of my closest friend delivered a baby boy in December. In just three months she said her breast milk is not sufficient for the baby and has started providing formula. This came quite shocking for me as I had abundant milk supply and I breast fed my baby for 1.5 yrs.  As mother I don’t believe in providing formula to babies. You need to give breast milk at least for six months (in my opinion at least a year.)
I was itching to do a post on how important is breast feeding and share some tips I followed to have abundant milk supply and other notes related to breast feeding. Then when Varshu mailed me to do a guest post .I was happy and  gladly accepted. I thank Varshu here for asking me to do a guest post on this pregnancy series. (Pleasure is mine Indu - Varshu :) )
Let me point out, the tips provided here are just to share some things that worked for me. I am not asking anyone that you must follow these things. Follow anything on your own consent. You can always get in touch with your pediatrician if you have doubts J

Benefits of Breast Feeding:
Children receive the most complete and optimal mix of nutrients & antibodies
The varying composition of breast milk keeps pace with the infant's individual growth and changing nutritional needs

For babies:
Reduced risk of childhood diabetes
Reduced risk of SIDS (sudden infant death syndrome) Statistics reveal that for every 87 deaths from SIDS, only 3 are breastfed.
Reduced risk of heart disease later in life
Increased bone density
Breastfeeding plays an important role in the emotional and spiritual  development of babies
Breastfed babies enjoy a special warm bonding and emotional relationship with their mothers
Are hospitalized 10 times less than formula fed infants in the first year of life
Antibody response to vaccines are higher

For Mommies:
Reduced risk of breast, ovarian, cervical, and endometrial cancers
Reduced risk of anemia
Protection against osteoporosis and hip fracture later in life
Helps the mother's body return to its pre-pregnancy state faster - promotes weight loss...1/2 of calories needed to manufacture milk is pulled from fat stores... can burn from 500 - 1,500 calories per day.
Helps the uterus contract after birth to control postpartum bleeding
Develops a special emotional relationship and bonding with her child
I have noted down very few benefits. To know more go here: http://www.motheringfromtheheart.com/Benefits.htm
This is a very very wide topic so there is a part  -  2 for this which will be published shortly :)
